Stardust is a 21meter, fully locally licensed, mostly day charter business based around the hundred or so islands of the Langkawi archipelago.

Her client base comes from local hotels including Sheratons,Wwestin, Four Seasons, Tanjung Rhu, Berjaya and many others, along with travel agents and ground handlers for agencies such as Thomas Cook, Talizman Reizen,Trailfinders and Kuoni. She is a classic styled brass and varnish soft adventure platform, from which guests can sea kayak, visit remote beaches and lagoons etc. She also services the islands with evening dinner cruises and occasionally overnight charters. The sale of the business includes Stardust.

We have seen growth rates of around 25% in the last three successive years. TURNOVER GROWTH (2005 28%) and in 2006 a whopping 71%! and no signs of slowing with record turnover in August 2006 and again in January 2007.

We have begun to develop a new product taking school students on soft adventure educationals around Langkawi and the 50 islands of the Bhutan group in Southern Thailand. This is a high growth area and we have expectations for overseas schools that will significantly increase business volume from October 2006 season.

The business can operate without the owner for moderate lengths of time. I recently took 6 weeks holiday in the UK in March my busiest ever month.

Stardust has berths for 10 persons and though the owners do not use it as a residence, it could be lived on if new owners so wished.

Location:

Stardust cruises beneath towering, jungle clad limestone escarpments while Langkawi sea eagles wheel overhead and dolphins frolic beneath our drag net. You couldn't wish for a more ideal location to "go to work".

Cruises usually start from the Kilim Mangrove river where guests regularly see hairy nosed sea otters (virtually extinct) and many different type of kingfisher including Brown Winged Kingfishers and sting rays can be hand fed.

The island of Langkawi itself is only the largest of a hundred or so islands that form a barrier round the main island. All of the islands are reachable by sailboat in a day, no more than three or four Kilometers from Langkawi and harbour large numbers of scenic bays, caves and jungle paths. Only three of the islands are inhabited and the remainder are protected wildlife reserves.

The main island has 10 five star resorts and in the region of twenty other relevant hotels. It was only really opened to tourism less than 15 years ago with the construction of an airport. It now represents one of Asia's fastest growing tourist destinations. Since Stardust commenced operating in 2001 two new five stars hotels have been built with another due to be finished by the end of 2007. Stardust has a General Sales Agent based in the main town center .

Expansion potential:

We are exploring new markets with Stardust to absorb our extra capacity. Historically we have averaged over 27% turnover increases.These will create increases in turnover of around 20% on the last audited turnover figure of May 2007 by May 2008. May 2008 figures currently look like meeting this target.

Our new speedboat Chitty Bang Bang will add 150,000 USD to turnover
Our new "Cigarette" speedboat G Spot, capable of 80mph, the fastest boat in Langkawi will also be available for exclusive offshore fishing charters

Management of a second sailing yacht (not in Langkawi) will add 300,000 usd to turnover.

Pricing of the Fleetdreams' business includes these two new products and incorporates the profit potential of new markets. These should all be coming to fruition by December 2008 and actual figures available for analysis.

Competition / Market:

There is one main alternative operator who gets the majority evening cruise market. Stardust holds the Lion's share of the day cruise market.

Support & training:

The current owner will stay on for the first six months of operations after the business has changed hands to give advice and support when it is requested. Stardust currently employs a Captain, a manager and a Crew able to operate the Stardust brand independently of the owner and a helmsman and crew for Chitty and will be employing a crew for her new sailing vessel..

Reasons for selling:

I have one 6 year old who is getting to the stage he needs an education. There are no private schools in Langkawi. I have a second only 2 years old. This will mean my children would have to live somewhere else ultimately. I will be moving to Europe within the next 12 months
