MUSIC WORLD ENTERTAINMENT LTD, a part of the retail sector of Rs
7000 crore, RPG ENTERPRISES, Music World opened its doors to the
music loving customers of Chennai in November 1997. After having
learned the nuances of music retailing, Music World expanded to
cities like Cochin, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chandigarh,
Kolkata, Siligury and Pune. Recently we have set our footprint in
Mumbai.
Music World is the pioneer and the leader in music retailing in
India with a turnover of 61 crore in 2003/04. We have 14 main
stores, 44 shop-in-shop (MW- EXPRESS), 164 ACCESS (MW-UNPLUGGED)
stores spread over 36 towns.
In order to grow at a faster pace we have now decided to take the
franchisee route and have already opened 4 franchisee stores. One
each in Bangalore, Mangalore, Vijaywada and Delhi.

As a pioneer MW changed the way music was being sold by better
product presentation, consumer- browsing facility and more
importantly by better ambience and service delivery. Key
differentiator between MW and its competitors are: Store ambience,

assistance and no question asked replacement policy.
Employees are MWs major strength. Each employee has to go through a
regimented induction programme followed by STAR (specialized
training for accomplished retailer) training programme.
