Most would-be British entrepreneurs are looking to buy a pub, whereas the bulk of Americans are looking for a petrol station.

At least that’s according to website BusinessesForSale.com, which lists both US and UK businesses for sale. It reckons 9.5% of all UK enquiries are for pubs while 8.2% of American enquiries are for petrol stations.

Claire Collins, head of Business Development said: “If you’re looking to migrate to the US then there’s a gas station in Texas for as little as $89,000. For the more ambitious there’s a large gas station/ convenience store in Los Angeles for $4.5m.”
